Dinner and a Movie

Last month some co-workers staged a girls day out in honor of a birthday.  We choose to see the movie Bridesmaids and to eat at the Cheesecake Factory.  I'm glad we decided to see the movie first and then eat dinner.  If you've seen it you know why if you haven't I shall not spoil the surprise!

I was particularly excited to see Bridesmaids because my wedding is very soon.  About a month away in fact *throws up a little*  I also love Kristin Wing and Maya Rudolph is just hilarious!  The movie was very entertaining and featured one of my favorite childhood songs from Wilson Phillips.  That song is now stuck in my head so its only fair that I now invite you to join along:

This movie was hilarious and just what I needed.  Made me feel good about my wedding too.  There is no way it can be as bad as this girls wedding.  Which actually is awesome because any wedding where Wilson Phillips performs is awesome!  It will be out on video 9/20/2011.  Just eat AFTER you see the movie!

After we saw Bridesmaids we headed over to the Mall at Millinia to chow down at the Cheesecake Factory.

I'd never eaten at the Cheesecake Factory mainly because it's full of cheesecake and I love cheesecake.  I was surprised to learn that not only do they have cheesecake but they also have food.  Like real food not dessert.  I guess the word I'm looking for is entrees?  I had a hard time choosing food.  I was too busy looking at the cheesecake menu!

I knew I was in trouble when they brought out a bread basket.  I'm trying hard to fit into my wedding dress.  It fits but not comfortably!  I really really tried to eat only one piece.

It was warm and delicious and I am a carb-aholic.  *shame-face*  I ate a lot of bread.  It was delicious and I'm not likely to go all the way to the Mall just for foods so thank goodness this place is far away.  It's evil!

Someone ordered some chips and salsa with guacamole and shared.  I'm not a salsa fan but that guacamole was delicious!  The chips were delicious too.  They're fried and salted so of course I loved them!

Then they brought out my meal.  OMG!  Potatatoes.  I *heart* potatoes and these didn't disappoint.  There were also some steamed broccolii and yummy fried chicken.  I ordered the Crispy Chicken Costoletta I believe.  There was a a little bit of a white wine sauce of some sort but it was minimal.  Really this dish was very flavorful and didn't need much sauce.  I packed up half to take home to Mr. Penguin.  Too bad he was still at work when I got home though b/c I ate it all.  I'm sorry to say that Mr. Penguin had to fend for himself that night.  But wait!  There's more!  I ordered dessert, to-go.

After eating the rest of my meal in the comfort of my favorite armchair I then delved into my cheesecake.  I choose a chocolate raspberry version because I know Mr.  Penguin loved that combo.  And yes, I did save him some!  He loved it.  I was kind of "meh!"  I've decided that traditional unadorned cheesecake is the best.  I felt like I was eating a jell-o pudding and not cheesecake.  It had none of that cheesecake creaminess or mouth feel.  Our former roommate's mother makes the best cheesecake hand-down.  I wish she would share her recipe!
