When ever I come home too tired to cook and too tempted to eat out I make these burgers. I especially like making these burgers when K-Mart is running a deal where you but 1lb ground beef and get the buns and cheese for free. Dinner for $2.99? Heck yeah! Add chips or fries and lots of pickles and it's a whole meal for less then eating at McDonalds.
These burgers taste similar to McDonalds or maybe Whitecastle. In fact you could cut them smaller and use slider buns if you wanted.
You'll only need 5 ingredients to make these burgers: 80/20 ground beef, seasoning salt, minced onion, and cheese slices if that's your thing.
Cover the bottom of a 8x8 square pan with the dried mined onion.
Sprinkle on the seasoning salt.
What is about seasoning salt that is so delicious? It's good on almost everything. I especially love it on my fried taters.
Cook in a 400 degree oven for 25 minutes or until meat is no longer pink in middle. Don't mess around with ground beef. I cook it till it's done again, lol! At this time you may want to drain off all the fat.
Hey, I never said that these hamburgers were healthy but since your draining off the fat your not eating it right?
Cover your meat with cheese (um, don't use the K-Mart brand crap I did, there was a reason it was free. It was like plastic, lol!). But back in the oven for a minute or to just until the cheese is melty. Unless you choose the same brand as me. Then you end up with plastic. *sadness*
Smother in ketchup and mustard and those little hamburger dill pickles. Dinners done. Yay!
Oven Burgers
1lb 80/20 ground beef
1/4 cup dried minced onion
1/4 tsp. seasoning salt
4 cheese slices
Evenly spread the onions on the bottom of a 8x8 inch baking dish. Gently press the ground beef on top of the onion flakes. Press evenly making one giant pattie. Sprinkle with seasoned salt. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 25 minutes. Using a paper towel, pat the excess grease from the top of the pattie. Top with cheese, return to oven for 2 more minutes. Remove from oven, let set 5 minute.
Makes 4 regular size hamburgers or 8 sliders.
What a nifty idea! (And since when did K-Mart start selling raw meat??)
ReplyDeleteI don't think they normally do. They just a very small section where they sell milk and eggs and a few other grocery items. It was just that weeks special deal I guess.
